FAQ

About SHIBUYAKOKESHI

What is SHIBUYAKOKESHI?

SHIBUYAKOKESHI is a specialty store dedicated to Japanese Kokeshi dolls. We introduce traditional and creative Kokeshi through our stores, online shop, exhibitions, and workshops.

What are Kokeshi dolls?

Kokeshi are traditional wooden dolls from northern Japan. Each doll is handcrafted and hand-painted by Kokeshi artisans.

Are all Kokeshi handmade?

Yes. All Kokeshi we carry are handmade by artisans. Because each piece is made from natural wood and painted by hand, every Kokeshi has its own unique grain, color, and expression.

Do you also sell vintage Kokeshi?

Yes. We carry many vintage and antique Kokeshi dolls in our stores and online shop.

Can I visit without a reservation?

Yes. No reservation is required to enter our stores or purchase Kokeshi.

Yes — photography is welcome. Please be considerate of other customers while taking photos.

Online Orders & Shipping

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer international shipping by air mail. Delivery usually takes approximately 2–10 days depending on the destination country or region.

When will my order be shipped?

Orders are usually shipped within 3–5 business days after payment confirmation.

How much is shipping within Japan?

Domestic shipping within Japan is a flat rate of ¥800 (tax included).

Which shipping carriers do you use?

We use Japan Post or Yamato Transport. A tracking number will be sent to you by email after shipment.

Are online and in-store inventories shared?

Yes. Our online shop and physical stores may share inventory. Because many items are one-of-a-kind, an item may occasionally sell out before an online order is confirmed.

Returns & Exchanges

Can I return or exchange my order?

Returns and exchanges are accepted only if you contact us within 7 days after delivery. Please note that Kokeshi are handmade from natural wood materials. Differences in wood grain, color, and texture are natural characteristics and are not considered defects.
